MODEL FOR THE PREDICTION OF POLLUTION ALONGSIDE AIRPORTS

MODELE DE PREVISION DE LA POLLUTION EN BORDURE DES AEROPORTS

THIS REPORT IS DIVIDED INTO THREE PARTS: THE FIRST IS DEVOTED TO A STUDY OF THE DIFFUSION EQUATION AND THE SIMPLIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO MAKE THIS EQUATION EASIER FOR CALCULATION; IN THE SECOND PART, AN EXPLANATION IS GIVEN OF THE HYPOTHESES WHICH LEAD TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FORMULAE FOR WIND AND THE COEFFICIENTS OF DIFFUSION ADOPTED; THE FINAL PART PROVIDES ELEMENTS OF CALCULATION OF VARIOUS PARAMETERS. IN ADDITION, THEORETICAL FACTORS DEALING WITH THE MECHANICS OF THE ATMOSPHERE, THE SURFACE LAYER AND THE STABILITY OF THE ATMOSPHERE ARE GIVEN, AS WELL AS SOME EXAMPLES OF THE PREDICTION OF POLLUTION AROUND ORLY AIRPORT, BASED ON QUANTITATIVE DATA RELATIVE TO THE EMISSION OF POLLUTANTS FROM WELL DEFINED TYPES OF AIRCRAFT. THE CONFIGURATION OF THE AIRPORT DOES NOT ENTER INTO THE CALCULATION, THE MODEL IS CAPABLE OF BEING APPLIED TO ANY AIRPORT.
