ANALYSIS OF SHRINKAGE EFFECTS ON REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURAL MEMBERS

THE STRUCTURAL BEHAVIOR IS ANALYZED OF REINFORCED CONCRETE MEMBERS UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS OF DRYING TO PREDICT STRESSES AND DEFORMATIONS. THE THEORETICAL DETERMINATION OF CURVATURE SO OBTAINED SHOWS GOOD AGREEMENT WITH EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS OBTAINED BY THE AUTHORS AND ALSO WITH THOSE REPORTED IN THE LITERATURE. THIS INVESTIGATION INDICATES IN PARTICULAR THAT THE DEFLECTION OF SOME REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS DUE TO SHRINKAGE CAN BE OF APPRECIABLE MAGNITUDE FOR SPANS GREATER THAN ABOUT 40 FT. /AUTHOR/
