THE RATIONAL PROBABILISTIC CODE FORMAT
REASONS FOR INTEREST IN PROBABILISTIC STUDIES OF SAFETY ARE OUTLINED. PRINCIPAL CONSIDERATIONS IN FORMULATING PROBABILISTIC CODES ARE DISCUSSED AND A SIMPLE STRENGTH MODELING EXAMPLE IS INTRODUCED. THE PROBABILITY IMPLICATIONS OF ACI 318-63 ULTIMATE STRENGTH DESIGN PROCEDURES ARE PRESENTED. BASIC PROBABILISTIC PROCEDURES IN THE ANALYSIS OF THE STRUCTURAL SAFETY PROBLEM ARE INTRODUCED. (ACIJP)
