ELASTIC BUCKLING IN TWO-COMPONENT COLUMNS
THE INITIAL BUCKLING LOADS OF TWO-COMPONENT COLUMS WITH FOUR DIFFERENT END CONDITIONS ARE INVESTIGATED. THE TWO COMPONENTS OF A COLUMN ARE ASSUMED TO BE RIGIDLY CONNECTED WITH ONE COMPONENT ON TOP OF THE OTHER. THE CENTROIDAL AXES OF THE TWO COMPONENTS ARE COINCIDENT BUT THERIR PRINCIPAL PLANES ARE OFFSET BY AN ARBITRARY ANGLE. THE SHEAR CENTER OF THE COLUMN CROSS SECTION IS ASSUMED TO COINCIDE WITH ITS CENTROID. THE EFFECTS OF THE HEIGHT RATIO OF THE TWO COMPONENTS AND THE OFFSET ANGLE ARE ASSESSED FOR THE INITIAL BUCKLING LOAD OF THE COLUMN. /ASCE0
