LATEST STRUCTURES BUILT WITH RUBIERA-PREFLEX GIRDERS
ULTIMAS REALIZACIONES CON VIGAS RUBIERA-PREFLEX
A NUMBER OF BRIDGES WERE BUILT WITH PRECAST GIRDERS PERMITTING A 30 M SPAN AND 1/40 SLENDERNESS, EVEN MORE IN THE CASE OF CONTINUOUS GIRDERS, WHICH IS HIGHER THAN THAT OBTAINED WITH OTHER PRECAST SYSTEMS. WHEN SPANS HAVE TO EXCEED 30 M, THE LIGHT WEIGHT OF THESE GIRDERS MAKE THE LATTER USEFUL FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SINGLE ISOLATED BRIDGE WHERE IT WOULD BE UNECONOMICAL TO SET UP A MANUFACTURING PLANT. FOR RAILWAY BRIDGES, THOSE GIRDERS HAVE THE ADVANTAGE OF BEING EASY AND QUICK TO ERECT AND OF BEING FAIRLY THIN. PREFLEXION AND PRECOMPRESSED CONCRETE OF THE LOWER FLANGE GIVE HIGHER RESISTANCE TO FATIGUE AND IMPACT STRENGTH. DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF SOME OF THE BRIDGES.
