MAINTENANCE OF SEMI-RIGID PAVEMENTS WITH TREATED STABILISING LAYERS

THE FIRST OBJECTIVE IS TO DEVELOP A METHOD OF DESIGNING THE STRENGTHENING OF PAVEMENTS CONTAINING ROADBASES STABILIZED WITH HYDRAULIC BINDERS. CODIFIED OBSERVATIONS (MONOGRAPHS) HAVE BEEN MADE AND SUMMARIZED. IT IS PROVED NECESSARY TO STUDY STRENGTHENING BEHAVIOUR FROM THE ANGLE OF PAVEMENT MECHANICS. THE DATA ALREADY GATHERED IN SOME ISOLATED STUDIES WILL BE COLLECTED AND SUMMARIZED. THE RESULTS OF THE MONOGRAPHS WILL FACILITATE THE CONTROL OF THE DIFFERENT APPLICATIONS OF THE MODEL. THE SECOND OBJECTIVE IS TO DEVELOP A NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING METHOD. AN ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE TO FIND THE SIGNIFICANCE AND THE LIMITS OF NEW NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING PARAMETERS USED TO ASSESS THE QUALITY OF PAVEMENTS CONTAINING STABILIZED ROADBASES. OF PARTICULAR INTEREST WILL BE THE QUANTIFICATION OF DATA SUPPLIED BY THE COLLOGRAPH, AND THE WAY IN WHICH CAVITY MEASUREMENTS CAN BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. PRESENT STATE OF PROGRESS: A VERSION OF A METHODOLOGY FOR THE NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING OF ROADBASES STABILIZED WITH HYDRAULIC BINDERS HAS BEEN PRODUCED AND IS BEING DISSEMINATED. 1979 PROGRAMME: A STUDY WILL BE MADE OF WAYS OF ACTUALIZING THESE METHODS TAKING INTO ACCOUNT PROGRESS MADE IN NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING EQUIPMENT.
