SKEW REINFORCEMENT OF CONCRETE SLABS AGAINST BENDING AND TORSIONAL MOMENTS
A METHOD IS DESCRIBED FOR PROPORTIONING STEEL REINFORCEMENT IN GIVEN, POSSIBLY SKEW, DIRECTIONS, TO RESIST BENDING AND TORSIONAL MOMENTS AT A POINT IN A CONCRETE SLAB. A FORMULA IS OBTAINED FOR THE STRENGTH OF AN UNDER-REINFORCED SLAB WITH KNOWN AREAS OF STEEL; THIS FORMULA IS THEN USED TO FIND THE REINFORCEMENT NECESSARY TO RESIST A GIVEN SET OF BENDING AND TORSIONAL MOMENTS, USING THE MINIMUM TOTAL AMOUNT OF STEEL. SAMPLE DESIGN CHARTS ARE PRESENTED AND THE PROCESS OF DESIGN IS DESCRIBED FOR BOTH A SINGLE SET OF MOMENTS AND MULTIPLE SETS DUE TO DIFFERENT LOADING CASES. /RRL/AUTHOR/
