ON THE FREE VIBRATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF A LONG-SPANNED SUSPENSION BRIDGE
THIS PAPER PRESENTS THEORETICAL CONSIDERATIONS ON THE FREE VIBRATIONS OF LONG-SPANNED SUSPENSION BRIDGES OF ORDINARY TYPE IN PART 1. THE NATURAL FREQUENCIES AND THE CORRESPONDING VIBRATIONAL MODES OF THE COUPLED FORMS ARE DETERMINED BY USE OF THE RAYLEIGH-RITZ METHOD. IN ORDER TO CLARIFY FREE VIBRATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS DUE TO THE INCLINATION OF HANGERS, MODEL TESTS ARE PERFORMED SO THAT THE DISCREPANCY BETWEEN VERTICAL AND INCLINED HANGER SYSTEMS IS DISCLOSED IN PART II. /RRL/A/
