CALCULATION OF FRAMEWORKS TAKING INTO ACCOUNT DEFORMATIONS OF THE SECOND ORDER. STABILITY STUDY

THE AIM OF THE RESEARCH IS TO DEVELOP A COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR STUDYING PLANE STRUCTURES CONSISTING OF REINFORCED CONCRETE BARS, CLOSELY OBSERVING THEIR BEHAVIOUR UNDER INCREASING LOADING, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT DISPLACEMENTS (GEOMETRICAL NON-LINEARITY) AND THE REAL BEHAVIOUR OF THE CONCRETE/STEEL REINFORCEMENT MATERIAL (MECHANICAL NON-LINEARITY) UP TO FAILURE POINT. THE METHOD USED SHOULD SHOW FAILURE THROUGH INSTABILITY (LOCAL OR GENERAL) OR THROUGH EXCESSIVE DEFORMATIONS IN THE VICINITY OF A NUMBER OF CRITICAL SECTIONS (PLASTIC PIVOT PINS). AT A LATER STAGE, THE PROGRAM WILL EITHER DEAL DIRECTLY WITH A PARTICULAR STRUCTURE, OR EVALUATE THE VALIDITY OF SIMPLIFIED METHODS APPLICABLE TO STANDARD FRAMEWORKS.
