TRUSS DEFLECTIONS BY ELECTRONIC COMPUTATION OF THE WILLIOT- MOHR DIAGRAM

THE METHOD AND PROCEDURE USED IN A DIGITAL COMPUTER PROGRAM ARE DESCRIBED TO FIND HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL MOVEMENTS OF ALL JOINTS OF A TRUSS, GIVEN THE MEMBER STRESSES AND THE STRUCTURE PROPERTIES. THE METHOD PRESENTED IS A SOLUTION BY ANALYTIC GEOMETRY OF THE WELL-KNOWN GRAPHICAL METHOD OF WILLIOT AND MOHR. THE DISCUSSION OF THE BASIC PROGRAM PROCEDURES IS ACCOMPANIED BY A SIMPLIFIED FLOW CHART. A SAMPLE CASE IS INCLUDED TO ILLUSTRATE THE SPEED, ACCURACY, AND FLEXIBILITY OF THE PROGRAM. /AUTHOR/
