TRIALS ON THE ACTION OF SYSTEM ANCHORS

VERSUCHE ZUR WIRKUNG DER SYSTEMANKER

THE AIM OF THIS MODEL STUDY IS TO CLARIFY THE BONDING ACTION BETWEEN THE SYSTEM ANCHOR AND THE MEDIUM SURROUNDING IT. IN ORDER TO OBTAIN INFORMATION ON THIS BONDING ACTION, TESTS ON SAMPLES ARE NECESSARY. THESE SAMPLES SHOULD SIMULATE CONDITIONS WHICH OCCUR DURING THE EXTENSION OR WIDENING OF A ROAD TUNNEL. THE NATURAL ROCK BELOW AN OVERBURDEN OF ABOUT 1000 M IS SIMULATED BY A MODEL PRISM. THE MODULUS OF ELASTICITY OF THE ROCK AND THE MODEL MATERIAL HAVE THE SAME RELATION TO ONE ANOTHER AS THE WEIGHT OF THE ROCK RESULTING FROM THE DEPTH OF OVERBURDEN AND THE PRESSURE ON THE MODEL PRISM. AS THE ANCHORS TO INCREASE THE ADHESION IN THE ROCK ARE USUALLY RIBBED, IN THE TEST SAMPLE THE ANCHORS ARE CONSTRUCTED AS FLAT BANDS, WHEREBY (1) STRAIN GAUGES CAN MORE EASILY BE INCORPORATED, AND (2) A BETTER ADHESION IS ATTAINED BETWEEN THE MODEL ANCHOR AND THE MODEL MATERIAL. IN THE SAME WAY AS IN DIFFICULT ROCK THE SHOTCRETE ARCH HAS EXPANSION JOINTS DIRECTLY AFTER THE POINT OF EXCAVATION, THE INNER RING OF THE MODEL HAS EXPANSION JOINTS FOR THE SAME PURPOSE. DEFORMATIONS OF THE ANCHORS AND THE ROCK ARE BEING MEASURED BY MEANS OF STRAIN GAUGES.
