THE ULTIMATE STRENGTH OF CONTINUOUS COMPOSITE T-BEAMS

THE ULTIMATE STRENGTH OF T-BEAMS FORMED FROM A CONCRETE SLAB ACTING COMPOSITELY WITH A STEEL BEAM UNDER SAGGING OR HOGGING BENDING MOMENT IS CONSIDERED. TESTS CONDUCTED ON FOUR TWO-SPAN CONTINUOUS BEAMS WITH VARYING AMOUNTS OF LONGITUDINAL REINFORCEMENT IN THE SLAB ARE DESCRIBED. THE ULTIMATE MOMENTS AND LOADS CARRIED BY THE BEAMS SHOWED GOOD AGREEMENT WITH THEORY, EXCEPT FOR ONE BEAM IN WHICH LONGITUDINAL SPLITTING OF THE SLAB OCCURRED DUE TO INADEQUATE TRANSVERSE REINFORCEMENT. /AUTHOR/
