STRENGTH OF LONGITUDINALLY STIFFENED GIRDERS
METHODS OF ESTIMATING THE BENDING STRENGTH AND THE SHEAR STRENGTH OF LONGITUDINALLY STIFFENED PLATE GIRDERS ARE DESCRIBED AND COMPARED WITH TEST RESULTS. IT IS CONCLUDED THAT A SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE IN THE STATIC STRENGTH OF PLATE GIRDERS CAN RESULT FROM THE USE OF LONGITUDINAL STIFFENERS.
