A STATISTICAL APPROACH TO THE ANALYSIS OF FATIGUE FAILURE OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BEAMS
AN INVESTIGATION WAS MADE OF THE EFFECT OF REPEATED LOADING ON THE VARIABILITY OF FATIGUE LIFE OF 90 PRETENSIONED CONCRETE BEAMS. A REGRESSION ANALYSIS OF THIS FATIGUE DATA LED TO A LINEAR RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE VARIABLES OF PREDICTED LIFE, AND LOAD LEVEL. THIS EQUATION WAS USED TO DEVELOP A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PREDICTED FATIGUE LIFE, LOAD LEVEL AND PROBABILITY OF FATIGUE FAILURE, EXPRESSED IN THE FORM OF THE CUMULATIVE NORMAL DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION.
