THE ELECTRONIC COMPUTER GREATLY INCREASES THE EFFECTIVENESS OF HIGHWAY ENGINEERING BECAUSE IT ACCELERATES CALCULATIONS INVOLVING EARTHWORKS, THE SELECTION OF SLOPES AND THE DETERMINATION OF GEOMETRICAL AND STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS OF HIGHWAYS AND FACILITATES THE STUDY OF TRAFFIC FORECASTS. DIFFERENT ASPECTS ARE STUDIED FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF ELECTRONIC AUTOMATION OF HIGHWAY PLANNING; THE VARIOUS STAGES IN THE PROCESS ARE REVIEWED, STARTING FROM THE AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORK AND INVOLVING THE COMPUTER LINKED TO A COMPARATOR WHICH ENABLES ONE TO OBTAIN VALUES FOR ACCURATE DESIGN.
