METAL AIR BATTERIES
METALL-LUFT-BATTERIEN
A METAL AIR BATTERY AS AN ELECTRONIC ENERGY STORER FOR ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN VEHICLES HAS A CONVENTIONAL BUT VERY MUCH IMPROVED IRON ELECTRODE WHICH IS COMBINED WITH A REVERSIBLE OXYGEN ELECTRODE. 500 FULL-EMPTY CYCLES WITH 40 MA/CM2 CAN BE UNDERTAKEN ON IRON ELECTRODES HAVING AMALGAM COPPER EXTENDING METAL AS A SUPPORT AND ON THE THREE LAYER OXYGEN ELECTRODE WITHOUT IMPAIRMENT OF THE POTENTIAL. RESULTS FOR A HYBRID SYSTEM CONSISTING OF AN IRON AIR BATTERY AND A LEAD ACCUMULATOR SHOW THAT DISTANCES DRIVEN CAN BE DOUBLED.
