CRASH TESTS ON A FORD ESCORT RS 2000 HAVING A FLEXIBLE POLYURETHANE FRONT SHOWED THAT AT LOW IMPACT SPEEDS THE PLASTIC PART REMAINS UNDAMAGED EXCEPT FOR SCRATCHES. IF THE CAR BODY IS PROVIDED WITH ENERGY-ABSORBING FOAMED ELEMENTS, THEN COLLISIONS ARE POSSIBLE AT SPEEDS OF UP TO 8 KM PER HOUR WITHOUT ANY PERMANENT DAMAGE OCCURRING.
