TYPES AND CAUSES OF FAILURE IN HIGHWAY PAVEMENTS
SIXTY-TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF PAVEMENT DISTRESS ARE DISCUSSED AND PICTURES ARE INCLUDED WITH THE HOPE OF OBTAINING SOME AGREEMENT IN TERMINOLOGY IN REFERENCE TO FAILURES IN HIGHWAY PAVEMENTS. IT IS CONCLUDED THAT NO MATTER HOW WELL THE PRELIMINARY WORK HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED SUCH AS MATERIALS EVALUATION, DESIGN, PLANNING AND SPECIFICATION WRITING THE PROBLEM OF TURNING OUT A GOOD JOB RESTS WITH THE CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER.
