OBSERVATIONS ON THE BEHAVIOR OF CONTINUOUSLY-REINFORCED CONCRETE PAVEMENTS IN PENNSYLVANIA

THE RESULTS OF THREE YEARS OF RESEARCH ON CONTINUOUSLY- REINFORCED CONCRETE PAVEMENTS ARE SUMMARIZED. TEST DATA AND CONCLUSIONS BASED ON INSTRUMENTATION, PHYSICAL MEASUREMENTS, AND OBSERVATIONS OF TWO CURRENT PAVEMENT PROJECTS ARE REVIEWED, AND A GENERAL PATTERN OF BEHAVIOR FOR CONTINUOUS PAVEMENTS IS ESTABLISHED. SOME OF THE WEAKNESSES FOUND IN EXISTING PAVEMENTS ARE DESCRIBED AND GIVEN CONSIDERATION IN SUGGESTIONS FOR DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION IMPROVEMENTS IN CONTINUOUS PAVEMENTS. /AUTHOR/
