THE USE OF AN ACCELERATED WEAR MACHINE TO EXAMINE THE SKIDDING RESISTANCE OF CONCRETE SURFACES
AN ACCELERATED WEAR MACHINE IS DEVELOPED TO SIMULATE ON SPECIMENS TESTED IN THE LABORATORY THE TYPE OF WEAR OBSERVED ON CONCRETE ROAD SURFACES. THIS MACHINE CAN BE USED TO EXAMINE THE RELATIVE EFFECTS OF VARIOUS FACTORS, E.G. MATERIALS AND MIX DESIGN, ON THE SKID RESISTANCE VALUE AND THE RETENTION OF TEXTURE. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE AT PRESENT, HOWEVER, TO PREDICT THE EXACT PERFORMANCE OF ANY PARTICULAR SURFACE UNDER TRAFFIC. /RRL(A)/
