HIGH-SPEED SKIDDING RESISTANCE MEASUREMENTS ON ROAD SURFACES /IN GERMAN/
A NEW MEASURING APPARATUS TO MEASURE SLIPPERINESS AT SPEEDS OF UP TO 160 KM/H IS DESCRIBED, AND A REPORT PRESENTED ON FIRST RESULTS OF MEASUREMENTS CARRIED OUT ON ROADS IN GERMANY. AT 80 KM/H THE SLIDING COEFFICIENTS OF THE SURFACES TESTED (CONCRETE AND GUSSASPHALT VARYING IN AGE) WERE RELATIVELY CLOSE TOGETHER; AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 80 AND 160 KM/H THEY DECREASED, AND AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 120 AND 160 KM/H THEY PARTED. THE GROOVING OF SURFACES TO PREVENT AQUAPLANING IS CONSIDERED. /FG/RRL/
