STRUCTURAL DESIGN OF ASPHALT PAVEMENTS WITH LOCAL MATERIALS FOR HEAVY LOADS
AN ANALYSIS IS MADE OF PAVEMENT DESIGN IN A ZONE IN ARGENTINA WHICH IS A SUBTROPICAL REGION WITH WARM CLIMATIC CONDITIONS AND HEAVY RAINS OVER THE WHOLE YEAR. LOCAL MATERIALS AND THICKNESS DESIGN OF THE FLEXIBLE PAVEMENTS ARE DISCUSSED. SOME CONCLUSIONS ON STRUCTURE DESIGN OF ASPHALT PAVEMENTS FOR THIS AREA ARE' /1/ THE USE OF ASPHALT STRUCTURE WITH A HOT MIX ON THE WEARING COURSE HAS AMPLE JUSTIFICATION FOR NECESSARY DURABILITY AND STRUCTURAL ACTION THROUGH TRAFFIC LOADS, /2/ PROVISION OF A BASE COURSE WITH CERTAIN STIFFNESS RATIO IN COMPARISON WITH EFFICIENCY FACTOR IS IMPORTANT, AND /3/ THE USE OF DEFLECTION MEASUREMENTS FOR PAVEMENT DESIGN.
