FLEXIBLE AIRPORT PAVEMENT DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE
A RATIONAL PAVEMENT DESIGN METHOD IS PRESENTED ON THE BASIS OF' /1/ ALLOWABLE PAVEMENT SURFACE DEFORMATION UNDER LOAD DERIVED FROM PAVEMENT PERFORMANCE DATA, /2/ SUBGRADE AND PAVEMENT COMPONENT STRENGTH VALUE USED IN THE DESIGN ANALYSIS DETERMINED ON PROTOTYPE SAMPLES IN THE LABORATORY UNDER STRESS AND DEFORMATION CONDITIONS, AND /3/ SIMPLIFIED SOIL MECHANICS PRINCIPLES TO CORRELATE THE VARIOUS PHYSICAL VARIABLES' SUBGRADE STRENGTH, STRENGTH OF PAVEMENT COMPONENTS, DESIGN LOADING INTENSITY AND FREQUENCY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS.
