USE OF LOADOMETER DATA IN DESIGNING PAVEMENTS FOR MIXED TRAFFIC

AN APPLICATION OF TRUCK WEIGHT AND LOADOMETER DATA TO THE DESIGN OF PAVEMENTS FOR MXED TRAFFIC HAS BEEN MADE USING THE CONCEPT OF EQUIVALENT APPLICATIONS. DATA FROM EIGHT STATES WERE STUDIED. RESULTS INDICATE THAT THERE ARE SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES IN 18-KIP EQUIVALENT APPLICATIONS FOR MIXED TRAFFIC IN DIFFERENT STATES AND CLASSES OF HIGHWAY WITHIN STATES. SUGGESTED PROCEDURES FOR ROUTINE USE OF LOADOMETER DATA IN DESIGN ARE GIVEN. THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD LOADOMETER DATA IS EMPHASIZED. /AUTHOR/
