MEDIAN PLANTING FOR HEADLIGHT-GLARE SCREENING
REDUCTION OF HEADLIGHT GLARE, CHIEFLY BY VEGETATION BUT ALSO BY WOODEN BARRIERS, IS DISCUSSED UNDER THE TOPICAL HEADINGS: EFFECTS ON SNOWPLOW OPERATIONS, CRITERIA FOR PLANT SELECTION, AND TREATMENT OF NARROW MEDIANS. IT IS ALSO NOTED THAT ROSA MULTIFLORA HEDGES NOT ONLY ELIMINATE GLARE BUT SERVE A SAFETY FUNCTION, AS CRASHES AT 47 MPH CAUSED LITTLE DAMAGE TO TEST VEHICLES AND NONE TO THE OCCUPANTS.
