PRESENT PRACTICE IN THE DRAINAGE OF HIGHWAYS
AN INQUIRY INTO HIGHWAY DRAINAGE PRACTICES WAS MADE BY MEANS OF QUESTIONNAIRE. REPLIES SHOWED WIDE DIVERGENCE IN THE PRACTICES OF THE VARIOUS STATES IN THE DETAILS OF UNDERGROUND DRAIN CONSTRUCTION, MOST MARKEDLY IN THE GRADING OF BACKFILL MATERIAL. THE NEED FOR STANDARDIZATION OF MANY FEATURES OF UNDERGROUND DRAINAGE PRACTICE IS APPARENT. /AUTHOR/
