FORMULAS TO DETERMINE STONE SIZE FOR HIGHWAY EMBANKMENT PROTECTION
A SHOALING WATER FORMULA TO CALCULATE STONE SIZE WAS DERIVED BY INTRODUCING A NEW CONCEPT OF THE EFFECT OF FACE SLOPES AND RELATING FORCES TO POTENTIAL BREAKER HEIGHT AND THEN RELATING BREAKER HEIGHT TO WATER DEPTH. THE SHOALING WATER FORMULA WAS THEN MODIFIED FOR APPLICATION TO STREAM-BANK AND DEEP-WATER SHORE PROTECTION.
