SOME ASPECTS OF THE OBSERVATION AND RECORDING OF THE VISUAL IMPRESSIONS AND AESTHETIC RESPONSE OF DRIVERS TO A CHANGING ROAD ALIGNMENT

THE AUTHORS SUGGEST THAT IT IS NECESSARY TO CONSIDER THE APPEARANCE OF A ROAD AT THE DESIGN STAGE. EXISTING METHODS OF PRESENTING VISUAL SEQUENCES ARE CRITICALLY EXAMINED. EXPERIMENTS INCLUDING THE USE OF FILM ANALOGUES DESIGNED TO TEST DRIVER OBSERVATIONS ARE DESCRIBED. SOME CONCLUSIONS ARE DRAWN FROM THESE EXPERIMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS ARE MADE FOR FURTHER WORK. /AUTHOR/
