NON-LINEAR VIBRATIONS OF A BEAM ON A VISCOELASTIC FOUNDATION
THE EQUATION OF MOTION FOR TRANSVERSE VIBRATIONS OF A SLENDER BEAM ON A CONTINUOUS VISCOELASTIC FOUNDATION IS DERIVED AND ANALYZED. THE STUDY INCLUDES THE NONLINEAR PARAMETERS WHICH ARISE WHEN ONE CONSIDERS THE NON-LINEARITIES INHERENT IN THE EXPRESSION FOR THE CURVATURE OF THE BEAM, THE SYSTEM'S EXTERNAL COUPLINGS, AND THE EFFECT OF CHANGE IN LONGITUDINAL POSITION OF THE BEAM ELEMENTS ON THE BENDING MOMENT CAUSED BY THE LATERAL INERTIA FORCES OF THE SYSTEM. /TRRL/A/
