A FIRST IN BRIDGE DESIGN IN CANADA
CANADA'S LEADERSHIP IN CONTEMPORARY BRIDGE DESIGN IS EXEMPLIFIED BY THE 1,973-FT.-LONG POST TENSIONED CAST-IN -PLACE CONCRETE STRUCTURE, THE LONGEST OF FOUR BRIDGES AT NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO. THE BRIDGE WAS DESIGNED BY THE STRUCTURAL OFFICE OF THE ONTARIO MINISTRY OF TRANSPORTATION AND COMMUNICATIONS. IT EMPLOYS A NUMBER OF ORIGINAL AND UNORTHODOX CONCEPTS TO BECOME THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN NORTH AMERICA. THIS ARTICLE IS A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE BRIDGE DESIGN.
