INVESTIGATIONS FOR THE STRENGTHENING OF THE MAIN RUNWAY OF A CIVIL AIRPORT PAPER 292
THE PAPER DISCUSSES INVESTIGATIONS MADE CONCERNING THE STRENGTHENING OF A MAIN AIRPORT RUNWAY TO AN L.C.N. 100 STANDARD. AS THE L.C.N. OF THE EXISTING PAVEMENT WAS NOT KNOWN, THE PAPER DESCRIBES THE METHODS USED TO DETERMINE THE STRUCTURAL CAPACITY OF THE EXISTING PAVEMENT. THE LEN LEVEL OF THE EXISTING PAVEMENT WAS ESTIMATED BY MEANS OF DIRECT LOAD TESTS, BY THE REVERSE-DESIGN METHOD AND FROM PAVEMENT PERFORMANCE DATA. ALTERNATIVE DESIGNS FOR FLEXIBLE AND RIGID OVERLAYS FOR DIFFERENT SECTIONS OF THE RUNWAY ARE MENTIONED. /TRRL/
