EFFECTS OF ENVIRONMENT ON PAVEMENT TEMPERATURES
THIS PAPER DESCRIBES SOME OF THE DELETERIOUS EFFECTS OF WARM ENVIRONMENTS ON ROAD PAVEMENTS AND PRESENTS WAYS IN WHICH BOTH EMPIRICALLY OBTAINED LONG-TERM TEMPERATURE DATA AND THEORETICALLY EVALUATED TEMPERATURE VARIATIONS IN MULTI-LAYERED STRUCTURES MAY BE RELATED TO PRACTICAL ENGINEERING PROBLEMS. THE MOTIVATION FOR, AND EVALUATION OF, A SIMULATION MODEL WHICH WILL PREDICT PAVEMENT TEMPERATURES USING FINITE DIFFERENCE TECHNIQUES IS PRESENTED, AND THE ADVANTAGES OF USING SUCH A MODEL FOR THE ACQUISITION OF RELEVANT DATA ON PAVEMENT TEMPERATURES ENUMERATED. /AUTHOR/
