COMPARATIVE STUDY OF ELASTIC AND PLASTIC ANALYSES FOR THE DESIGN OF RIGID PAVEMENTS
THE ULTIMATE LOAD BEARING CAPACITY OF A PLAIN CONCRETE PAVEMENT IS ANALYZED ON THE BASIS OF A RIGID PLASTIC SLAB ON AN ELASTIC FOUNDATION AND IS COMPARED WITH THE YIELD LOAD CLACULATED BY WESTERGAARD'S ELASTIC ANALYSIS. FROM THE RESULTS IT IS CONCLUDED THAT THE ULTIMATE LOAD BEARING CAPACITY OF A CONCRETE PAVEMENT IS MUCH GREATER THAN THE YIELD LOAD. /TRRL/
