LOAD DISTRIBUTION IN CONCRETE BOX GIRDER BRIDGES
PRESENT DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS AND LOAD DISTRIBUTION FACTORS FOR REINFORCED CONCRETE BOX GIRDER BRIDGES ARE CRITICALLY REVIEWED. THEORETICAL SOLUTIONS ARE DEVELOPED, USING FOLDED PLATE THEORY, FOR THE ELASTIC ANALYSIS OF MULTI-CELLED BOX GIRDER BRIDGES WITH OR WITHOUT INTERIOR RIGID DIAPHRAGMS OR SUPPORTS. GENERAL COMPUTER PROGRAMS, BASED ON THESE SOLUTIONS, ARE DESCRIBED IN WHICH THE INPUT CONSISTS OF THE GEOMETRY OF THE STRUCTURE, MATERIAL PROPERTIES, AND LOADING CONDITIONS AND THE OUTPUT YIELDS THE INTERNAL FORCES, MOMENTS AND DISPLACEMENTS AT SELECTED POINTS. THE RESULTS OF PARAMETER STUDIES WITH RESPECT TO LOAD DISTRIBUTION ON EXAMPLE BRIDGES WITH 3, 4, 6 AND 8 CELLS ARE DISCUSSED. /RRL/A/
