EXPERIMENTAL DETERMINATION OF STRESS DISTRIBUTION IN THE COMPRESSION ZONE. /IN GERMAN/
SINCE IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO MEASURE THE DISTRIBUTION OF STRESSES IN A DIRECT WAY AN INDIRECT METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE STRESSES ACTING IN THE VARIOUS FIBERS HAS BEEN DEVELOPED. FOR THIS PURPOSE THE HYPOTHESIS THAT THE STRESS IN EACH FIBER AT ANY TIME WOULD DEPEND ONLY ON ITS STRAIN HISTORY WAS USED. TO TEST THE VALIDITY OF THIS HYPOTHESIS THE STRAIN HISTORY OF VARIOUS FIBERS OF AN ECCENTRICALLY LOADED TEST SPECIMEN WAS RECORDED. THE COMPRESSION FORCE NECESSARY TO IMITATE THE STRAIN HISTORY OF THE SELECTED FIBERS WAS VARIABLE WITH TIME. THE CORRESPONDING STRESSES WERE USED TO DEFINE THE PRESUMABLE STRESS DISTRIBUTION IN THE COMPRESSION ZONE. THESE TESTS PROVED THE HYPOTHESIS TO BE SATISFACTORY FOR THE SPECIAL CASE OF A COMPRESSION ZONE WITH CONSTANT HEIGHT UNDER THE HIGHEST SUSTAINED LOAD THE SECTION IS ABLE TO BEAR. THE TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT FOR TWO CONCRETE STRENGTHS AND FOR VARIOUS INTERVALS OF SUSTAINED LOAD. /RRL/
