AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE LOSS OF TENSION IN PRESTRESSING WIRES AND CABLES CAUSED BY FRICTION /IN FRENCH/

TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT IN THE LABORATORY AND ON CONSTRUCTION SITES. LABORATORY TESTS MEASURE THE LOSS OF TENSION IN ANCHORAGE DEVICES AND THE LOSS CAUSED BY FRICTION DUE TO THE LAYOUT OF THE CABLE. THE FACTORS STUDIED ARE THE NATURE OF THE SYSTEM, THE IMPORTANCE OF THE DEVIATIONS, AND THE SURFACE CONDITION OF THE WIRES AND ANCHORAGE DEVICES. THE RESULTS OBTAINED ARE PRESENTED IN GRAPHS SHOWING THE LOSS IN TENSION CAUSED BY FRICTION AS A FUNCTION OF THE DEVIATION AND SURFACE CONDITION OF THE WIRE. ON THE SITE, MEASUREMENTS ARE MADE OF THE COEFFICIENT OF FRICTION DURING PRESTRESSING. THIS CAN BE CALCULATED BY THE METHOD OF LEAST SQUARES OR, BY MEANS OF A GRAPH. COMPARISON OF THE RESULTS SHOWS GOOD AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE TWO METHODS. /CRIC/FESR/LCPC/RRL/
