RECENT RESEARCH ON WIND FORCES ON TALL BUILDINGS
A RESUME OF RESEARCH TO DATE ON WIND FORCES ON TALL BUILDINGS IS GIVEN. RESEARCH OBJECTIVES ARE EXPLAINED AS WELL AS THE METHODS USED IN MEASURING AND ANALYZING WIND FORCES. ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS ON TALL BUILDINGS IN ENGLAND, AUSTRALIA, CANADA AND THE NETHERLANDS ARE DISCUSSED. RESEARCH SINCE 1958 HAS BENEFITTED FROM THREE MAJOR INNOVATIONS: (1) FULL SCALE INFORMATION IS BEING GATHERED, (2) A WORKABLE ANALYTICAL BASIS FOR RESEARCH HAS BEEN WORKED OUT, AND (3) EXPERIMENTATION WITH TURBULANT BOUNDARY LAYER FLOWS HAS PROGRESSED ENOUGH TO MAKE IT USEFUL FOR PROVIDING DESIGN INFORMATION. /CGRA/
