INVESTIGATION OF TRAFFIC INDUCED VIBRATIONS AND THEIR EFFECTS ON THE DECKS OF CONCRETE HIGHWAY BRIDGES
THE PURPOSE WAS TO DETERMINE IF THERE WAS ANY CORRELATION BETWEEN (1) THE DECK DETERIORATION OF CERTAIN BRIDGES THAT ARE EXTREMELY SENSITIVE TO VIBRATIONS AND (2) THE VIBRATIONS THAT ARE INDUCED BY HEAVY TRUCKS. VIBRATION-INDUCED STRESSES ON THE DECKS OF SELECTED SIMPLE AND CONTINUOUS SPAN STEEL GIRDER BRIDGES WERE MEASURED, ANALYZED, AND RELATED TO DESIGN FEATURES. /FHWA/
