ANALYSIS OF CURVED FOLDED PLATE STRUCTURES
A COMPUTER PROGRAM HAS BEEN DEVELOPED WHICH IS CAPABLE OF ANALYZING CURVED FOLDED PLATE STRUCTURES SIMPLY SUPPORTED AT THE TWO ENDS AND COMPOSED OF ELEMENTS THAT MAY IN GENERAL BE SEGMENTS OF CONICAL FRUSTRA. THE PROGRAM IS BASED ON A HARMONIC ANALYSIS IN THE CIRCUMFERENTIAL DIRECTION, WITH THE LOADINGS EXPRESSED BY FOURIER SERIES, AND ON A FINITE ELEMENT STIFFNESS ANALYSIS IN THE TRANSVERSE DIRECTION. THE STRUCTURE ASSEMBLY AND SOLUTION FOLLOWS THE DIRECT STIFFNESS METHOD AS IT HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY APPLIED PREVIOUSLY TO STRAIGHT PRISMATIC FOLDED PLATES. /AUTHOR/
