TORSIONAL PROPERTIES OF COMPOSITE STEEL BRIDGE MEMBERS
THE REQUIRED EQUATIONS ARE DESCRIBED FOR DETERMINING THE TORSIONAL PROPERTIES OF INDIVIDUAL COMPOSITE GIRDERS, AND THE APPLICATION OF THESE EQUATIONS IN THE FORM OF TABULAR DATA OF TYPICAL GIRDER PROPERTIES. THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TORSIONAL AND BENDING PROPERTIES IS EXAMINED, AND APPROXIMATE DESIGN EQUATIONS DEVELOPED. IN DEVELOPING ALL OF THE TORSIONAL PROPERTIES IT IS ASSUMED THAT THE SECTION IS THIN WALLED AND THE WARPING SHEARING STRESS DEFORMATIONS CAN BE NEGLECTED. THE TABLES DEVELOPED INCLUDE ONLY ROLLED GIRDERS WITH COVER PLATES AND WELDED GIRDERS. EXAMPLES ARE INCLUDED WHICH SHOW HOW THE EQUATIONS AND TABLES CAN BE USED. A LISTING OF THE COMPUTER PROGRAM USED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE TABLES IS INCLUDED IN THE APPENDIX. /AUTHOR/
