STATISTICAL STUDY OF THE PRODUCTION OF TWO BITUMINOUS MIXING PLANTS (IN FRENCH)
THE CONCLUSIONS REACHED AT THE END OF THE STUDY ARE: (1) FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF ASPHALTIC CONCRETE USED FOR HEAVILY- TRAFFICKED ROADS, AN AUTOMATIC BATCH-MIXING PLANT IS PREFERABLE TO A CONSTANT FLOW BITUMINOUS MIXING PLANT. IN THE FORMER, THE VARIANCE IN BINDER CONTENT IS VERY SMALL: THE FINISHED PRODUCT CAN BE ACCEPTED SEVENTEEN TIMES OUT OF SEVENTEEN; IN THE LATTER TYPE OF PLANT, IT CAN BE ACCEPTED ONLY EIGHT TIMES OUT OF SEVENTEEN. (2) IF RECOMMENDATIONS ARE STRICTLY FOLLOWED, STATISTICAL CONTROL LEADS TO SIMILAR RESULTS: SIXTEEN TIMES OUT OF SEVENTEEN; STATISTICAL CONTROL HAS THE ADVANTAGE OF BEING A SIMPLE AND RAPID METHOD TO USE. /LCPC/RRL/
