EFFECT OF AIR ENTRAINMENT ON THE DURABILITY CHARACTERISTICS OF CONCRETE AGGREGATES

THE DURABILITY OF AIR-ENTRAINED CONCRETE IS COMPARED TO THAT OF NORMAL PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE, USING COARSE AGGREGATES WITH VARYING FIELD PERFORMANCE. THE PRESENCE OF ENTRAINED AIR CAUSED OF SLIGHT REDUCTION IN THE WATER REQUIREMENT, THE FLEXURAL STRENGTH, AND THE DYNAMIC MODULUS OF ELASTICITY OF CONCRETE, AND INCREASED THE DURABILITY FROM 5 TO 50 TIMES DEPENDING ON THE QUALITY OF THE ENTRAINED AIR AND THE COARSE AGGREGATE. /AUTHOR/
