LONG-TIME STUDY OF CEMENT PERFORMANCE IN CONCRETE-CHAPTER 8. ILLINOIS TEST PLOT
THIS FINAL REPORT, AFTER 25 YEARS OF EXPOSURE, SHOWS THAT THERE IS NO SIGNIFICANT EFFECT OF CEMENT COMPOSITION OR FINENESS, PER SE, ON THE PERFORMANCE OF THE VARIOUS CONCRETES. CONCRETES MADE WITH THE AIR-ENTRAINING CEMENTS HAVE GIVEN COMPLETELY SATISFACTORY, ALMOST PERFRCT, PERFORMANCE FOR ALL MIXES. DIFFERENCES IN AVERAGE PERFORMANCE THAT OCCUR AMONG CONCRETES MADE WITH THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF NON-AIR-ENTRAINING CEMENTS ARE ATTRIBUTABLE TO SMALL DIFFERENCES IN THE AMOUNT OF AIR IN THE CONCRETES. DIFFERENCES IN THE AVERAGE PERFORMANCE THAT OCCUR AMONG CONCRETES MADE WITH THE INDIVIDUAL NON-AIR- ENTRAINING CEMENTS ARE PREDOMINANTLY CONTROLLED BY SMALL DIFFERENCES IN THE AMOUNT OF AIR IN THE CONCRETES. /PCA/
