ELASTIC PROPERTIES OF CONCRETE AT HIGH TEMPERATURES
THE MODULI OF ELASTICITY AND SHEAR OF CONCRETE SUBJECTED TO STEADY STATE CONDITIONS ARE STUDIED AT VARIOUS ELEVATED TEMPERATURES. VALUES OF THE MODULI WERE OBTAINED FROM TESTS OF CYLINDRICAL CANTILEVER BEAMS, STATICALLY LOADED TO PRODUCE BENDING AND TORSIONAL STRESSES SIMULTANEOUSLY. TESTS WERE MADE AT 75 F, 300 F, 600 F, 900 F AND 1200 F. CONCRETES MADE WITH 4 TYPES OF AGGREGATE AND HAVING 2 COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH RANGES, 4000-4500 AND 6000-6500 PSI, WERE USED. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE MODULI DECREASED PROGRESSIVELY AS THE TEMPERATURE WAS INCREASED. UPPER AND LOWER BOUNDARY FUNCTIONS FOR THE REDUCTION IN THE MODULUS OF ELASTICITY WERE DETERMINED FROM THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA. /PCA/
