APPLICATION OF A SMALL PROBE-TYPE RELATIVE HUMIDITY GAGE TO RESEARCH ON FIRE RESISTANCE OF CONCRETE
THERE IS NEED FOR INSTRUMENTS SUITABLE FOR MEASURING THE MOISTURE CONDITION WITHIN CONCRETE SPECIMENS THAT ARE TO BE FIRE TESTED. THE DUNMORE-TYPE HYGROMETER HAS BEEN USED FOR SUCH MEASUREMENTS, BUT A SMALL PROBE-TYPE RELATIVE HUMIDITY GAGE RECENTLY DEVELOPED APPEARED TO OFFER SEVERAL ADVANTAGES. DATA OBTAINED BY USE OF THE TWO TYPES OF GAGES IN SEVERAL CONCRETE SPECIMENS ARE PRESENTED, AND TECHNIQUES FOR FORMING HUMIDITY WELLS IN PLASTIC CONCRETE ARE DESCRIBED. INFORMATION IS ALSO PRESENTED CONCERNING THE EFFECT OF EDGES OF SPECIMENS ON THE INTERNAL RELATIVE HUMIDITY IN DRYING CONCRETE SLABS. /PCA/
