DETERMINATION OF THE APPARENT DENSITY OF HYDRAULIC CEMENT IN WATER USING A VACUUM PYCNOMETER
A METHOD IS PRESENTED FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE APPARENT DENSITY OF HYDRAULIC CEMENT IN WATER. THIS METHOD IS PREFERABLE TO THE KEROSENE METHOD FOR OBTAINING DENSITY VALUES TO BE USED IN THE CALCULATION OF THE SPACE OCCUPIED BY THE CEMENT IN CONCRETE OR FOR THE CALCULATION OF THE AIR CONTENT OF CONCRETE. COMPARATIVE DATA FOR 32 CEMENTS SHOW AN AVERAGE INCREASE OF 0.056 G. PER ML. WHEN DENSITY TESTS ARE MADE IN WATER INSTEAD OF KEROSENE. /PCA/
