THE COMPOSITION IS DISCUSSED OF AIR ENTRAINING AGENTS AND THE RESULTS OF THEIR USE ON WORKABILITY, STRENGTH, ABRASION RESISTANCE, RESISTANCE TO FREEZING AND THAWING, AND PERMEABILITY OF CONCRETE WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE USE OF THESE AGENTS IN MASS CONCRETE IN LARGE DAMS. BOTH LABORATORY AND FIELD RESULTS ARE DESCRIBED. THE DESIGN OF MASS CONCRETE WITH RESPECT TO AIR CONTENT AND CEMENT CONTENT IS DISCUSSED. /PCA/
