THE NONEVAPORABLE WATER CONTENT OF HARDENED PORTLAND-CEMENT PASTE -- ITS SIGNIFICANCE FOR CONCRETE RESEARCH AND ITS METHOD OF DETERMINATION
THE PHYSICAL COMPOSITION OF HARDENED PORTLAND-CEMENT PASTE CAN BE COMPUTED FROM EMPIRICAL RELATIONSHIPS INVOLVING THE ORIGINAL WATER CONTENT OF THE FRESH PASTE, THE NONEVAPORABLE WATER CONTENT OF THE HARDENED PASTE AT THE EXISTING STAGE OF HYDRATION, AND THE NONEVAPORABLE WATER CONTENT WHEN THE CEMENT IS COMPLETELY HYDRATED. THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PHYSICAL COMPOSITION AND STRENGTH, FROST RESISTANCE, AND OTHER FACTORS ARE DISCUSSED WITH REFERENCE TO RESEARCH PROCEDURES. EXPERIMENTAL METHODS FOR MEASURING THE NONEVAPORABLE WATER CONTENT AND OTHER QUALITIES OF THE PASTE ARE DESCRIBED. /PCA/
