THE PROBLEM OF PROPORTIONING PORTLAND CEMENT RAW MIXTURES: PART I--A GENERAL VIEW OF THE PROBLEM; PART II-- A MATHEMATICAL STUDY OF THE PROBLEM; PART III--APPLICATION TO TYPICAL PROCESSES; PART IV--DIRECT CONTROL OF POTENTIAL COMPOSITION

PRACTICAL METHODS OF PROPORTIONING ARE DESCRIBED FOR MAINTENANCE OF A DESIRED POTENTIAL TRICALCIUM SILICATE OR DICALCIUM SILICATE PERCENTAGE IN CLINKER BY ESTABLISHING THE APPROPRIATE CARBONATE "HOLDING POINT" ON THE BASIS OF PERIODIC COMPLETE MIX ANALYSES, ADJUSTING IN THE INTERIMS ON THE BASIS OF RAPID CONTROL TESTS FOR CARBONATES. EFFECTS OF IRON ORE OR SAND ADDITIONS ARE CONSIDERED. APPLICATION IS MADE TO BOTH CONTINUOUS PROPORTIONING AND TWO-STAGE PROPORTIONING PROCESSES. A FINAL SECTION COVERS THE CASE WHERE COMBINATIONS OF SLURRIES CAN BE MADE IN PROPORTIONS CALCULATED FROM COMPLETE ANALYSES. /PCA/
