PHYSICAL TEST METHODS USED IN INVESTIGATING AGGREGATES
RESEARCH IS REVIEWED WHICH HAS BEEN CONDUCTED TO EVALUATE THE FROST RESISTANCE OF AGGREGATES WHEN USED IN CONCRETE. TESTING PROCEDURE METHODS USED ARE (1) FREEZING AND THAWING OF CONCRETE CONTAINING THE AGGREGATES, (2) UNCONFINED FREEZING AND THAWING OF THE AGGREGATE ITSELF, AND (3) SIMULATION OF FREEZING AND THAWING THROUGH ALTERNATE DRYING AND IMMERSION IN SOME SORT OF SOLUTION. FREEZING AND THAWING TEST METHODS FOR CONCRETE ARE REVIEWED.
